  Australian String Quartet

The Australian String Quartet was established in 1985 and is Quartet-in-Residence at the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide. It tours both nationally and internationally and has won numerous chamber music competitions. Adelaide born Lucinda Collins received a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London and has since won many prizes and scholarships. She is head of keyboard and teaches full-time at the Elder Conservatorium of Music.

This Piano Trio took its name from that which the first settlers gave Melbourne’s Yarra River. The Freshwater Trio has established itself as a piano trio of note. Acclaimed by audiences and peers alike, it comprises three professional musicians of stunning musical pedigree, linked by their passion for performing and their innovative approach to music making. In 2010 the trio will travel to Canada and the USA, will release a CD with ABC Classics and will be guest tutors at the prestigious Australian Youth Orchestra National Chamber Music Camp. Audiences can expect mesmerizing interpretations of mainstream piano trio literature.

This exciting trio of internationally acclaimed musicians formed in 2006 with an outstanding debut concert for ABC classical FM which featured in the best of Sunday Live 2006. Melbourne Chamber Orchestra is the fresh, vibrant face of orchestral music in Australia. Peppercorn Piano Recital

Aura Go will present the 2010 Tallis Peppercorn Recital on the John Tallis Beleura Schimmel piano. Aura is one of Australia’s foremost young musicians. She has won many scholarships and awards, and regularly appears as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor. She has been concerto soloist with the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras and given numerous solo and chamber recitals for ABC Classic FM. Her commitment to Australian music has led to the creation of new work for her to perform.

Proceeds from this concert will go into the Bursary Fund.

     Bursary Winners Concert   

 

Each year since 2000 the Peninsula Music Society, through its Bursary Fund, has presented bursaries to secondary and tertiary music students who meet certain eligibility criteria. The John Tallis Beleura Bursary is the major award in each category. In 2009 the society awarded bursaries with a total value of $12,000. Winners of these bursaries will perform at this free public concert and be presented with their awards. Bursaries are awarded to secondary and tertiary students who study violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, flute, piccolo, clarinet, oboe, bassoon or french horn. Applicants will be interviewed and auditioned by adjudication. Home address of applicants must be in the Mornington Peninsula Shire, City of Frankston or postcodes 3197, 3912 or 3977. Secondary applicants must be studying at a level not below Units 3&4 of VCE Music or IB qualification, or have achieved AMEB grade 6 or above. Tertiary applicants must be under 25 years and be studying music full time at tertiary level.July.

La Compania, formed in 1997, is a unique Australian ensemble dedicated to the music of the Renaissance and early Baroque. They perform a rarely heard repertoire on historically important instruments to form a consort rich in possibilities. Their vibrant musicianship combined with their improvisatory skills has established a reputation with both audience and critics for presenting innovative programs and dynamic performances.

Atos Trio

Atos is a piano trio based in Germany. In 2007 they won Grand Prize, 1st Prize, Musica Viva Prize and Audience Prize in the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. Following this success they performed for us to great acclaim. They have performed at London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Frankfurt’s Alte Oper & New York’s Carnegie Hall, and won the Katechstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio in the USA. Atos is committed to every note, every phrase, every movement of every piece they perform, and that is what electrifies their performance.
